Normal Membership: $35.00

To enable HHWC to meet all legal requirements and stay solvent, all membership fees are due 1st October each year. Please ensure your membership fees are paid on time.

All members will have access to the same financial benefits as the group becomes established and funds become available; such as milk at wholesale prices and on occasion assisted vet fees.

Member Responsibilities and Requirements are:

1. Membership application must be completed and submitted.  
2. Volunteers must demonstrate a clear understanding of all Occupational Health and Safety Requirements in relation to DBCA and show evidence they have completed the online induction. This is done by registering with DBCA as a volunteer  
3. All Healing Hands volunteers are required to attend training when available in Albany at their own expense. This includes all mentors and long term carers to ensure best practice
4. Healing Hands Wildlife carers MUST have a mentor who has experience in caring for the species they are caring for
5. Healing Hands Wildlife carers MUST have their premises and facilities checked  ,and have chosen  a mentor prior to taking any wildlife into care.
6. If a carer has wildlife in care prior to becoming a member, the above still applies for membership eligibility
7. Timesheets MUST be filled in and lodged in a timely manner.  Copies to be sent to the vice chair for HHWC records.
8. NO member may handle bats unless they can show proof they have been vaccinated for Lyssavirus
9. ALL members must participate in HHWC fundraising activities
10. ALL members are bound by the groups constitution.
11. Members may not speak on behalf of the group unless pre-authorised to do so on a case by case basis.
12. Individual members may  fundraise, But could you just run it past your mentor or the committee first ,to avoid doubling up.

 
When you join as a member ,you'll be given a Booklet either in hard copy or electronically.It is called Information for New Members. It'll help you through the process and tell you how to choose a mentor. pay your fees and complete all the necessary paperwork. Your information booklet will help you through this procedure, but should you have any questions please contact your mentor, you will find their contact details on page 8 of your information booklet.
If you would be available to go on rescues, then please speak to your mentor, who will talk you through the booklet called Telephone Tree, this booklet will give you lots of information on rescuing Wildlife. plus necessary health and safety requirements.
Each booklet contains the relevant policies and procedures, these are for your information and to help keep you safe.

Insurance
All registered Parks and Wildlife volunteers are insured against personal accident while volunteering, given Health and Safety guidance, and training for their role.
If you are not an Australian Citizen you will need to have your own current health insurance.
Unfortunately, for insurance reasons, only people aged 16 and over can be registered as volunteers with Parks and Wildlife. There is no upper age limit, provided that you are physically capable of carrying out the role. Depending on the demands of the role, you may be asked to provide a ‘Fit for Work’ certificate.
No Workers Compensation is included in this policy, it is for out of pocket medical expenses only.
HHWC, also has  public liability Insurance.
